As founding partner and Chief Technology Officer for the creative studio Surface to Air created in the year 2000 in Paris and New York City and working internationally in the fashion, music, video and art scenes, Klokie has collaborated with respected graphic and audiovisual artists and architected, built and managed online systems and dynamic user interfaces for Virgin Records (UK), the United Nations, New York Metropolitan Museum of Art (MoMA), the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (USA), Stephen King / ABC TV (USA), Circuit de Barcelona (Spain), and AJAX-driven social widgets for New York Magazine, Toyota, and the SXSW Music Festival. Recent consulting projects include rapid prototyping and delivery of a Facebook-style intranet for Atlas Copco, one of the two leading manufacturers of industrial tooling and equipment employing more than 33,000 people in 20 countries, and complete system architecture and development for DNA Guide AB, Sweden’s vanguard supplier of home DNA tests.
Music and Writing
Holding degrees in music theory and computer systems engineering with concentration in digital signal processing, he advocates thoughtful standards-based design practices and open-source and object-oriented methodologies, and is conversant in 10 computer and 4 human languages. As a classically trained musician and composer, he has written and recorded over 40 works, with several of his compositions performed at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall and MIT’s Killian Hall. Recent compositions and collaborations include a short film soundtrack for Stockholm’s 2009 Fashion Week and an upcoming CD release on the independent label Queen Ink in Europe and North America. He is also a contributing writer for GuitarOne Magazine and LeCool’s webzine in Barcelona.
Current interests and expertise include AJAX-enabled user interaction and semantic web technologies within the Drupal modular development framework. In addition to providing consulting services via Swedish technology firm S2A Interactive, Klokie’s ongoing focus is the evolution of the next-generation social semantic desktop application FileRide.
